I am excited to announce that I will be working with Karna Fitness of Baton Rouge by assisting them with the fall half-marathon training program! I have always wanted to get involved in coaching as I love to help and motivate new runners achieve their personal fitness goals!
A little background about Karna Fitness:
“Karna means “core” in Swedish. Karna Fitness offer private and small group training for women at hundreds of locations nationwide.
Karna Fitness was developed in 2008 by Kristen Horler, founder of Baby Boot Camp. As a category creator and industry leader, Horler is a contributing writer and fitness expert to numerous national fitness magazines. She is a continuing education provider for the American Council on Exercisewith over 10 years of professional fitness experience. Prior to becoming a fitness professional, Horler earned a B.A. degree in Physical Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an A.O.S. degree in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco.
Today, Horler makes her home in Sarasota, Florida, with her husband and two children where she continues to develop and refine the Karna Fitness and Baby Boot Camp programs. Horler’s first book, “Baby Boot Camp: The New Moms’ 9-minute Fitness Solution” (Sterling Publishing Inc.) was published in January 2010.”
Karna Fitness programs are available nation-wide and include some of the following programs:
Karna Camp – small group training
Restore the Core – intensive mat based pilates
Half Marathon training – 12 week training program
I will be working with our local branch to help with training for the Louisiana Marathon which will be held in January 2013!
I ran the inaugural Louisiana Marathon last year (at 12 weeks pregnant) and it is a great race for our city so I am excited to work with Karna Fitness help new runners reach their goal of running this race all the while supporting the Louisiana Marathon.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July holiday! I’m looking forward to spending time with my family, grilling a healthy meal, and enjoying our time as a family of three.
